      I have severe scoliosis, and one leg is an inch shorter than the other. After a lot of pain, I had visions of ending up in a wheelchair. With Kim's help, I've "grown" 1/2 inch; I can ride a bike, garden, and hike. After every injury or new ache, Kim has taught me how to strengthen joints and improve balance, so I can heal and keep going.

      The YouFit class with instructor Betsy Miller is exactly what I was looking for here on the mountain! This class is as good as any class I’ve taken at a big city YMCA. The hour long class works every muscle group and at the end you have more energy than when you started. I have seen improvement in my strength and muscle tone since I began the class. Best of all, it’s fun with good music and great people! Betsy makes sure everyone works at the fitness level that’s best for them.

OUR MISSION is to educate people—from collegiate students to those well into their twilight years—about how the body works and to enable them to move with ease and strength.

Located on the beautiful 13,000-acre campus of the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, Bodyworks Youniversity is a perfect setting for our restorative work. We want your experience to be a “tiny vacation” from your busy life, to learn how to destress and unwind your body and soul.

We offer private and duet sessions that use heat and stretching on Pilates equipment to release and align your body before taking you to core strengthening exercises. We also offer Pilates mat classes to strengthen and tone your body, as well as to educate you about what each exercise is designed to achieve.

Meet Hannah VanBuren!

Bodyworks Youniversity is thrilled to announce that Hannah VanBuren, a certified personal trainer through the National Council on Strength & Fitness, will be scheduling appointments for personal training on Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Bodyworks Studio, 293 Ball Park Road, Sewanee, TN 37375.


Hannah embarked on her personal training journey back in 2017, driven by her passion for fitness and her desire to help others achieve their health and wellness goals. She took the first step towards her career by becoming a certified personal trainer through the National Council on Strength and Fitness. Her initial experience was in a one-on-one personal training studio, where she honed her skills in tailoring workout programs to meet the unique needs and objectives of each individual client. Whether her clients sought to build strength, improve balance, enhance endurance, or undergo a total body transformation, Hannah was there to guide them on their fitness journey. Her clients ranged in age, showcasing her versatility in training people of all generations.

During her time at the personal training studio, one of Hannah's clients recommended she explore the opportunities at Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation. Recognizing the potential to merge her medical assisting background with her personal training expertise to make a meaningful impact on patients and members, Hannah made the leap to join the Siskin team. At Siskin, she continued her role as a personal trainer, working with both hospital patients and fitness enthusiasts.

It was at Siskin Hospital that Hannah expanded her knowledge and experience in training special populations, including those with unique medical needs and challenges. She also worked with individuals who simply desired greater comfort and confidence in a fitness and wellness environment. One of Hannah's true passions is transforming something intimidating into an enjoyable and fulfilling experience for anyone willing to try. She specifically focuses on empowering women to feel at ease in a weightlifting setting, allowing them to witness and feel the positive changes in their bodies while nurturing a wellness-focused mindset, rather than solely emphasizing aesthetics. This dedication to women's fitness and well-being is a core aspect of Hannah's life, and she warmly welcomes individuals of all experience levels, whether they are newcomers to the gym or seasoned fitness enthusiasts. Hannah is committed to helping everyone achieve their health and fitness goals while enjoying the journey along the way.
